This is a question that we have been asked a lot and that everyone should ask if they want to get good results the first time out. Many get into indoor gardening by talking to mates and tend to listen to thier advice which is good if they know what they are donig. Our advice is do your own research into how you want to grow but there are basic bits of equipment that every one needs to have the best chance possible for success these are.
1. Grow room
2. Grow light
3. Extract fan and filter
4. Your prefered growing method
So you have made the choice to grow plants indoors but do you really know what to do? Growing plants indoors is easy so long as you get the basics right! Alot of novice growers tend to buy a grow light stick some plants under it and wait for their harvest, this will never work. If you can not afford to buy at least a light and an extract fan then i would suggest waiting till you can because without the fan your plants are doomed to failure.
Why? This is simple, the most effective grow lights in use today are high pressure sodium vapour and these lights as a bi product give off quite a lot of heat which with out some form of hot air extraction will heat up your grow room to temperatures far exceeding that for optimum plant growth unless you are growing a cactus haha.
Ph and EC are other things to watch out for, Ph is important because if this strays too high or too low it locks out vital nutrients to your plants making it hard for them to grow. EC is key because it indicates how much feed your plants are getting. If the ec is too high them you can assume your plants are being over fed resulting in poisoning, stress and ultimately a weak plant and a small yeild.
Choose your method wisely, for some people hydroponics is ideal because in my opinion once set up they are easier to maintain and look after doing all the hard work for you. Others may prefer the flexibility of growing in pots with soil or coco aswell as the safety net of having a media that holds water for long periods.
